Yes, You Have to Pay to Park on the Port Aransas Beach

Blog August 30, 2026

If you’ve spent a day on the beach in Port Aransas, you’ve probably noticed the beach parking permit signs—and yes, we know it can be a little annoying to pay for parking. But there’s a good reason for the fee. The City of Port Aransas puts beach parking revenue back into the beach, helping pay for lifeguards and Surf Rescue, portable restrooms, trash collection, beach maintenance equipment, road grading and even a portion of police services on the beach. In 2025 alone, more than 177,000 permits were sold, generating about $2 million for the city’s beach fund.

The current permit costs $12 and is valid through the end of the calendar year, and permits can be purchased at Port Aransas City Hall, the Port Aransas Chamber of Commerce, local grocery and convenience stores, other participating businesses, and the authorized beach vendor. The city is planning to increase the price to $20 beginning in 2027, but the permit will continue to provide access to beaches within the Port Aransas and Corpus Christi city limits.

For those who own or are considering Port Aransas real estate, this is one of those small expenses that helps support the bigger picture. Clean beaches, maintained beach roads, reliable lifeguard services and a well-cared-for coastline all contribute to the Texas Gulf Coast lifestyle that draws families here for beach vacations and buyers here for second homes, luxury beach homes and investment properties. When you're considering a Port Aransas vacation home or beach house for sale, the quality and accessibility of the surrounding beach community matter just as much as the house itself.

So the next time you pull onto the Port Aransas beach and reach for that parking permit, think of it less as a fee and more as a contribution toward keeping one of the Texas coast's most popular beaches enjoyable. And if you're thinking about making that beach lifestyle permanent, there are plenty of reasons to take a closer look at Port A real estate, Mustang Island homes and coastal investment property.
