Whooping Cranes Near Port Aransas & North Padre Island

Nature lovers have another reason to plan a family beach vacation to Port Aransas (Port A). Recent aerial surveys estimate around 540 endangered whooping cranes spent the winter along the Texas coast near the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge.

While most cranes stay within the refuge, a few were spotted closer to town.
